[edit] Agenda & Discussion
[edit] Status of priority 1 items
- The team indicated a very strong willingness to provide feedback on the voice and SMS deliverables; however, the timelines are too aggressive to produce solid feedback on all eight topics at once.
- The team agreed to focus on 4 of the 8 items first with comments due prior to the IRT so the topics can be discussed in detail during the IRT in March. The other 4 items will be worked as time allows and before moving on to the tier 2 priorities.
- In order to better understand if team members need more time to work on a specific deliverable, each participating company will be asked individually if they have comments pending or if they support moving the documents forward as is.
- Voice items to focus on prior to and during the IRT:
- Voice Mail paper
- Daniel Salek noted two major decisions that will need to be made by the group:
- Is one solution preferred over another?
- Should the group try to move to one single solution?
- Verizon Wireless and Pelephone both noted they are working on comments for this paper. We will continue to hold the paper open until all team members have a chance to provide comments.
- Please provide comments to Daniel Salek via the wiki, group distribution list or email to Daniel by March 16.
- Daniel Salek noted two major decisions that will need to be made by the group:
- X0 to X2 migration
- Verizon Wireless noted that rejecting X0 records could have a large, negative impact on roaming if carriers have not made the transition by the time the edit goes into effect. It was suggested that Cibernet and perhaps the CDG also ensure carriers are well aware of the pending edit as well as the impact of this edit to minimize any negative effects to roaming.
- Cibernet will ensure carriers are educated through their channels.
- Ricardo Sarti of the CDG said the CRMs will socialize this change with IRT members and non-members.
- It was noted by KDDI that many Asian carriers may not be aware of this situation and will need to be notified as well.
- Please provide comments to the Cibernet paper to Gepsie Cox by March 16, prior to the IRT. Syniverse has a contribution which will be sent to the team today.
- Please provide comments to Gepsie about the proposed edit to reject X0 record types at the end of 2006. Gepsie will share feedback with the group at the IRT in March.
- Gepsie will have the MDN education paper for review on March 16 and it will also be discussed during the IRT.
- Gepsie is working with Syniverse to have a training session during the June IRT focusing on how to properly populate X2 records.
- KDDI suggested we develop a test plan for carriers moving from X0 to X2 record types. Are there carriers and vendors who have experience moving from X0 to X2 record types who could take the action item to create a test plan?
- Verizon Wireless noted that rejecting X0 records could have a large, negative impact on roaming if carriers have not made the transition by the time the edit goes into effect. It was suggested that Cibernet and perhaps the CDG also ensure carriers are well aware of the pending edit as well as the impact of this edit to minimize any negative effects to roaming.
- Coverage exchange
- Please return the coverage survey to Travis Lathrop. Travis has about 12 responses but needs more in order to move on. He has offered to hold a conference call to discuss the survey if that would be helpful to those who still plan to fill it out.
- Verizon Wireless and TNZ noted they plan to respond to the survey.
- Voice Mail paper
- Voice deliverables on hold until after the IRT
- Calling line ID – A draft paper may be distributed shortly before the IRT meeting, however, this one will be set aside until one of the other four are further along.
- + code dialing – Drafting of survey is in progress but this item will be set aside until after the IRT.
- SMS items to focus on prior to and during the IRT
- White paper
- Some comments have been received.
- Verizon Wireless, Pelephone and VeriSign still plan to provide comments.
- Please provide comments to Daniel before the IRT so progress can be made during the face to face meeting.
- White paper
- SMS deliverables on hold until after the IRT
- Test plan – Please send comments to Dave Wittekind of Sprint and Daniel Salek if time allows. Otherwise, we will refocus on this post March IRT.
- Partner Qualification Form – A draft has been sent to the team. Some comments have been received. Dave G will get another draft out next week although. Comments are welcome and will be received until all team members who want to comment have a chance to do so.
[edit] Survey priority 2 results
The VSWG Prioritization Results have been updated to reflect the results of the second survey round.
Thanks to all the carriers that responded to the survey. As we complete tier 1 priorities we will begin work on the rest of the priorities one at a time being careful not to overload the team or lose focus by having too many deliverables due at once.
