ANID – Access Network Identifiers
A triplet consisting of the SID, NID, and PZID, that uniquely identifies an HRPD access network. The ANID uniquely identifies the PCF and is used by the PDSN to determine if it owns the connection. If so the PDSN does not need to send agent advertisements for Mobile IP. If not and Mobile IP is being used, the PDSN needs to trigger a Mobile IP registration request so that the Mobile IP tunnel between FA and HA is setup properly.
The AN currently serving a user is identified as the Current ANID (CANID). When handing off a data session between a source AN and target AN served by the same PDSN, the source AN becomes the Previous ANID (PANID), while the target AN becomes the CANID.
ANID is defined in TIA-878 (3GPP2 A.S0008).
